The 1934 Matchless Silver Hawk was a luxury sports-touring motorcycle featuring a 592cc V-4 engine and overhead-camshaft valve gear, designed by Bert Collier.
Expensive machine introduced at the wrong time during an economic downturn, leading to low sales and a short production run (1931–1935).
As a result, it is now one of the rarest British motorcycles, known for its beautiful looks and advanced technology for the era, such as its shaft-driven OHC and cantilever rear suspension. The motorcycle boasted a 592cc V-4 air-cooled engine with a 26-degree cylinder angle, featuring an impressive overhead-camshaft valve gear driven by a shaft and bevel gears. It had a 4-speed manual gearbox with a hand shift and a cantilever rear suspension, similar to the Vincent-HRD design. Known for its fine performance and handling, the bike could reach 0-80 mph in top gear. The dashboard featured a speedometer, ammeter, and clock, with integrated switches.
