Zündapp KS 600, 1941. It was restored about 6 years ago. It works properly.
BMW and Zundapp competed in the manufacture of this type of motorcycles with boxer engines, even before the two firms decided to redesign incorporating mechanical overhead valves, high performance, in the late 30s. Precisely this model was launched by first time in 1938, the first model of Zündapp equipped with this system, for which it was necessary to enhance the lubrication system with pump more pressure given the increased power and maximum speed.
It was a tough and very fast bike for its time, so that many European armies used it as a military vehicle (especially Germany and Spain).
The mechanics of ks 600 remained after the Second World War when returned to Zündapp motorcycle production in late 1940, and chose to re-use the engine of KS 600 to power the KS601. Then the KS 601 came with some modifications.
