BMW R-12, from 1938. Civilized militar motorcycle. It works properly.
The R-12 was popular with and without sidecar. It was the first serial machine incorporating a four-speed gearbox and telescopic fork with hydraulic shock absorbers; it was not the first telescopic fork motorcycle , but if the first truly modern and incorporated it in a motorcycle shock absorbers as standard. Compared with telescopic fork models then in use, it can be said that adopted by BMW had no maintenance problems, was more durable and was less subject to problems of twists.
